The Role



We are seeking a qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (by the Association in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy, AFSP) to lead this AFSP accredited pathway as an Academic Tutor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join the DClinPsy programme team based within the School of Psychology, which is committed to providing the highest level of clinical psychology training consistent with BPS/HCPC requirements. The role will be to oversee and support the current AFSP accredited foundation and intermediate pathways within our Programme. The purpose of the role is to lead this pathway, to support and deliver teaching, to undertake and assist with marking of associated academic and clinical assessments, and to support trainees on the Programme as a course tutor. The role will also require liaising with colleagues within the NHS, at the university and across other UK DClinPsy training programmes, and with other clinical training programmes within the School as required.



Key Accountabilities

* Responsible to the Academic Directors, the postholder will co-ordinate and support delivery of the foundation and intermediate pathways with AFSP colleagues, and oversee the timetable.
* To lead on the assessment and marking of required submitted work and take a key role in checking and marking portfolio requirements.
* To liaise with the Clinical Director and team to identify clinical placement provision and determine supervision provision within them.To liaise and communicate with clinicians in the region around the pathway and the opportunities deriving from it.
* To collaborate with other DClinPsy programmes also delivering this pathway around sharing resources as appropriate.
* To develop and amend any documentation required e.g. handbook and accreditation paperwork.
* With support from the Programme Director, to identify and appoint an external examiner to this pathway.
* To keep informed of national training developments with relation to AFSP.
* To input into wider academic/course aspects of the Programme where agreed.



The Person (Essential)



Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* Experience of delivering teaching on health care professional programmes or within clinical settings.
* An understanding of the roles of clinical psychology within the UK healthcare system and the NHS and the function of clinical training in supporting these roles.
* Evidence of employment as a family or systemic therapist in a health care setting.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective rapport with individual clients and working relationships with a range of staff.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines.
* Ability and willingness to work in emotionally-charged situations and to support those with high levels of distress.
* Demonstrable commitment to evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence.

Desirable

* Experience in working in Higher Education Institutes or in clinical training programmes.

Qualifications

Essential

* AFSP Fully Qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (with UKCP registration)
* HCPC registered if a clinical psychologist

* DClinPsy qualification
