Job summary
To provide professional advice for Fire Safety on behalf of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust as agreed with the Chief Executive through the Executive Director responsible for Fire Safety. Responsible for fire safety training of all staff throughout the Trust and other service providers on Trust property by constantly devising and improving training and evacuation methods commensurate to particular departments. Provide informed advice on Fire Strategies to the Trust on its development across its Estate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will form part of a multi-disciplinary team whose role is to provide the best possible Fire Safety Service to Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. A good working relationship with Departmental Managers will be essential to the achievement of the Fire Safety Managers objectives. He/she/they will be expected to show a thoroughly professional attitude in all his/her/their relationships.
The post holder provides specialist advice and guidance on fire safety matters across the Trust, interpreting current legislation. The post holder is responsible for reporting on fire safety matters internally and externally.
The post holder will line manage the Fire Safety Advisor.
Guided by policy documents such as NHS Firecode and The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the post holder has a significant amount of discretion in interpreting in relation to local conditions.
Hold fire bleep and respond, when available, to all fire alarm activations.
Manage the Fire Safety Budget.
Manage and monitor contracts with external contractors for the provision, maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems and other fire equipment such as extinguishers.

* Professional knowledge acquired through Fire Service Experience or degree level education in relevant subject, such as fire engineering, fire safety or equivalent.

* Experience of working in non-acute MH/LD or community healthcare settings
