Driver Hire Basingstoke and Newbury are looking to recruit a number of Yard Operatives to help support the work that we are doing to support our local clients with their temporary staffing needs. The clients we support are based from Hook in the south of the region, through Basingstoke and Tadley, and up to Newbury and Thatcham in the north.
The work varies from client to client, and you could be driving for a range of different clients.
The days can be flexible to you, working as many or as few days as you wish. Generally the work is between Monday and Friday, but there may be occasional weekend working as well.
We work with a range of different clients from to include but not limited to builders merchants, home delivery as well as accident repair centres
Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring the yard and warehouse is always swept and clean.
2. Wash area is regularly pressure cleaned and free from mud deposits.
3. Helping load and unload vehicles for both colleagues, customers, and supplier.
4. Support of trade counter staff in ferrying on and off hires to and from workshop and yard.
5. Health & Safety – To perform a walk around every evening ensuring all keys are removed from plant and any small items of equipment are removed from the yard and secured inside the depot.
6. Complete machinery mechanical inspection.
Requirements:
7. Ideally possess Counterbalance forklift license.
8. Knowledge of tool and plant is an advantage.
9. Friendly and professional manner.
10. Ability to take instruction from senior staff and lead by example.

Hours, Pay & Benefits
12. £13.68 ph (including holiday pay, basic rate £12.21) – Mondays to Fridays, with enhanced rates for weekend work.
13. Guaranteed minimum of 8 hours per day (subject to operational requirements).
14. Flexible working days to suit you.
15. Paid weekly in arrears.
