Principal Energy Consultant – Advanced Modelling
Location: Central London (Hybrid)
Salary: £50k - £65k (Dependent on Experience)
A reputable and independent Sustainability Consultancy are looking for a Principal Energy Consultant to lead and develop advanced energy modelling services for them. This role involves delivering high-quality energy modelling using IES Virtual Environment (especially ApacheHVAC), with a strong focus on NABERS Design for Performance, CIBSE TM54, LEED, and other advanced modelling approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead advanced modelling projects using IES VE, including NABERS, TM54, and LEED.
* Deliver compliance modelling (Part L, EPC), thermal comfort, daylighting, and overheating assessments.
* Develop internal modelling best practices and mentor junior staff.
* Prepare reports, QA modelling outputs, and clearly present technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Oversee project delivery including resourcing, budgeting, and client communication.
* Contribute to proposals, client pitches, and business development.
* Promote sustainability through industry engagement and through leadership.
Requirements:
* Degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
* 5+ years experience in energy modelling and sustainable building design.
* Proficient in IES VE and ApacheHVAC; strong knowledge of NABERS and TM54.
* Experience with HVAC systems, low-carbon design, and UK energy policy.
* Strong communication, organisation, and project management skills.
* EPC certification and/or CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant.
* NABERS In-Use certified or completed ApacheHVAC training.
