Role Context As Senior Planner / Planning Lead, you will take ownership of planning and scheduling across large-scale renewable energy and transmission & distribution (T&D) projects. This hybrid role allows you to combine remote work (2–3 days per week) with on-site presence (1–2 days per week), providing exposure to multi-disciplinary delivery teams, project controls, risk management, and strategic client engagement. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Planning & Scheduling Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules for renewable energy and T&D projects. Conduct critical path analysis, resource loading, and scenario planning to optimise delivery. Prepare integrated master schedules, linking multi-disciplinary activities and interfaces. Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and propose corrective actions. Support risk management through schedule-related risk identification and mitigation strategies. 2. Client Engagement & Reporting Present schedule analysis, updates, and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Collaborate with project teams to define milestones, deliverables, and dependencies. Support business development by contributing to proposals, project bids, and feasibility studies. Represent the company in project review meetings, workshops, and steering committees. 3. Programme Management & Commercial Support Maintain project controls and reporting frameworks across multiple projects. Advise on procurement timelines, contractor engagement, and resource allocation. Ensure schedules are aligned with contractual requirements, regulatory obligations, and client expectations. Candidate Profile Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Experience Proven experience as a Planner or Planning Lead on renewable energy and T&D projects. Expertise in large-scale project scheduling, programme management, and resource planning. Knowledge of UK planning and permitting processes for energy infrastructure. Experience producing reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders. Technical Skills Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, Asta Powerproject, or equivalent). Strong knowledge of project controls, risk management, and reporting processes. Understanding of renewable energy construction sequencing, T&D works, and commissioning activities. Valuable Attributes Experience in onshore/offshore wind, solar PV, battery storage, and T&D infrastructure. Knowledge of EPC, NEC, or FIDIC contracts. Professional membership in planning or project management bodies (e.g., APM, PMI) desirable. Languages Fluent in English; other UK regional languages/dialects advantageous. Personal Attributes Strong analytical mindset and attention to technical and commercial detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging senior stakeholders.
