An established business based on the outskirts of Maidstone is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team. So own transport would be required. This role would suit a late-stage AAT studier or Part-Qualified ACCA / ACA who is keen to broaden their experience, get involved in systems and process improvements, and progress with a business long term.
The Opportunity
You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, gaining exposure across day-to-day accounting, month-end processes, and the ongoing development and improvement of finance systems. There is genuine scope for progression for someone proactive and eager to take ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Process Improvement
* Support finance system upgrades and enhancements
* Assist with system testing, implementation and troubleshooting
* Identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes
Core Accounting Duties
* Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger
* Bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
* Credit card management and reconciliations
* Assist with Trial Balance and Profit & Loss preparation
* Support monthly Management Accounts
Payroll
* Check payroll reports for accuracy (payroll is outsourced)
* Assist with payroll reporting and summaries
General Finance Support
* Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc duties
* Assist with month-end and year-end processes
* Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records
What you need
* Late-stage AAT or Part-Qualified ACCA / ACA
* Confident working with finance systems; experience with system improvements or testing is highly desirable
* Strong Excel and general IT skills
* Proactive, organised and keen to develop
* Comfortable working in a busy, collaborative office environment
