Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join our current consultant workforce in our CAMHS Eating Disorder team within Radlett, Hertfordshire. This is an established post supported by a locum consultant.
The consultant Psychiatrist will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team comprising Nurses & Nurse Associates (various bandings, Band 7 4 WTE), Psychologists (2 WTE), Family Therapists (2 WTE), Support Workers, Assistant Psychologist, CBT therapist, Dietitian, and Admin support. The team works cohesively and meets weekly to discuss referrals, inpatients, and high-risk patients.
The CAMHS Eating Disorder team has adapted and developed to meet the growing needs of its clinical population, managing around 300 young people with specialized monitoring and intervention. The team reviews 10-15 new referrals weekly, jointly assessed by the MDT under consultant supervision. Over the last 18 months, the medical team has expanded with a permanent specialty doctor and a newly created consultant post, offering opportunities for specialty training rotations to CAMHS trainees.

Main duties of the job
1. Provision of psychiatric care within the CAMHS tier 3 service for under 18s with eating disorders.
2. Assess young people's mental states, formulate diagnoses, and monitor risks.
3. Participate in referral meetings and case reviews.
4. Collaborate with the MDT to develop effective treatment approaches.
5. Support development of internal clinical pathways.
6. Provide consultation, advice, and support to professionals in the wider network.
7. Supervise trainees and the specialty doctor in the service.
8. Facilitate case discussions and teaching sessions for the MDT.
