We’re seeking a career-starter Games User Researcher to join our team.
We are looking for an early-career or career-starterto support a specific programme of playtests studies as a Games User Researcher.
Our Games User Researchers ensure the smooth execution of studies that help developers and publishers understand their audience and improve video games.
As an entry-level Games User Researcher you will contribute to studies, master our research approaches and learn from our expert team. We’ll support you to develop your skills in games user research.

Do you fit the brief?
* You have internship-level experience in a related role or hold a Graduate degree in psychology, anthropology, sociology, human-computer interaction, or similar human subjects research field.
* You have a strong knowledge of research design and games user research methods specifically qualitative methodologies.
* You have an interest in video games, genuinely enjoying gaming in all forms, and a knowledge of game/ software development processes.
* You’re comfortable speaking in front of groups with authority.
* You’ll have experience building trust and rapport, collaborating effectively and problem solving with confidence.
* Comfortably client-facing, you’re a proactive communicator and maintain client satisfaction, speaking with the trusted voice of our business.
* Must be familiar with and comfortable with VR/MR/AR hardware.
Core responsibilities
* In a team of two or three, partner with our experienced Games User Researchers toexecute insightful in-person usability studies
* Sustain a high cadence of research execution and analyses, meeting strict deadlines and client expectations for insight quality.
* Deliver end-to-end research studies for commercial clients: you’ll be a critical contributor throughout study design, briefing, execution, analyses and delivery.
* Conduct high-quality research using a range of methods including surveys, depth interviews, observational study, and expert analyses.
* Work with and learn from our team of expert Researchers and support staff.
* Represent Player Research — and your work — in presentation, shareouts, debriefs and meeting new stakeholders.
* Synthesise your learnings across multiple games and genres, using your initiative and insight to deliver actionable best practices back to client stakeholders — becoming a trusted subject matter expert with a nascent game development ecosystem.
* Maintain client satisfaction, speaking with the trusted voice of our business, with proactive communication — both day-to-day and at formal touchpoints.
* Work within our purpose-built playtesting facilities in Brighton, utilising state-of-the‑art gameplay capture equipment. Manage and deploy testing hardware in partnership with our dedicated IT team.
You’ll havetwo managers: a People Manager and a Head of Research Craft, ensuring your professional and technical growth respectively.
Location and starting
* For immediate start. This is a full time, fixed term contract until 31st July 2026, with intent to extend.
* Our team work hybrid to conduct in‑person testing. To facilitate lab-based research, commuting distance to Brighton (UK) is required.
