Hours: 14 hours per week. 12 months FTC Hourly rate: £13.38 per hour Key Results Summary Responsibilities Develop, plan, and communicate an evolving activities programme that reflects the wide range of individual needs, preferences and acknowledges developments in research in activities for older people. Encourage and facilitate residents to arrange their own activities where appropriate. Evaluate and monitor the success of all activities for residents. Collaborate with colleagues across the site to provide opportunities for shared activities. Work closely with care, facilities and the pastoral team to plan suitable activities. Establish links with the local community and encourage cross-generational activities. Support and coordinate volunteers and work experience students who are involved in various activities and events. With the Social Care Deputy Manager, monitor the activities budget and ensure that best value is achieved through expenditure. Skills and Experience Communication Advocate culture of communication and information sharing between team members. May involve others in resolving and discussing mutual problems. Written responses presented in a range of formats. Exchanges and clarifies technical or complex info for diverse audience. Thinking Style Analyses facts and available information to resolve varied and non-routine problems. Plans and organises a range of interlinked activities and tasks. May modify processes for best outcomes. Confident with data and report writing/business case. Aware of wider issues. Uses experience to identify most appropriate actions. Pre-empts issues and trouble shoots. Well-being and Values Aware of cultural and individual differences in all interactions and service areas. Create a positive impression. Understand the needs of older people and people with dementia (including willingness and motivation to learn). Collaborate with residents – tailoring service to meet individual needs. Demonstrate sensitivity to individuals’ needs. Contribute to the facilitation and encouragement of well-being in residents and colleagues. Strong emphasis on engagement and well-being. Unquestionably embodies the Trust’s values and behaviours internally and externally. Working with Others Role models integrity. Flexible style, stepping in to support team members when required. Liaises with other teams/departments and external partners/contacts as service area expert. Encourages engagement and flexibility within team Other Skills and Qualifications Essential Good level of general education to GSCE (or equivalent) standard Experience in working with older people Experience in organising and running a range of events/activities Experience and understanding of risk assessments, creating and reviewing them Knowledge of good practice in relation to working with people living with dementia e.g. moving and handling and the safeguarding of adults at risk Confident working with a range of IT in particular Word, Outlook and Excel Desirable First aid trained or basic knowledge Knowledge of health and safety Knowledge of gentle exercises appropriate for older people Understanding of volunteer work and work experience Clean current drivers licence (that meets criteria to drive a minibus) Additional Information Duties must be carried out in compliance with St Monica Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
