Overview
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom’s leading organisation for protective policing of the civil nuclear industry and other critical national infrastructure. We recruit skilled and committed professionals to our team to support this mission.
As a CNC Police Officer, you will be part of a highly trained, professional team delivering 24/7 armed response; patrolling and protecting nuclear sites, facilities and materials, and working with local Home Office Police Forces. You may also be deployed as part of the National Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and other national operations as required.
Your training includes a 19-week residential Initial Foundation Programme (IFP) with comprehensive Authorised Firearms training. You do not need prior policing experience to join us.
We offer local training options for candidates in Caithness, with at least one local course each year (excluding the first week in Oxfordshire). Recruitment will discuss your preference for a local course and note this in your application.
After a 2-year probationary period, you’ll be eligible to apply for specialist roles to further policing skills (e.g., Dog Handler, Special Branch, Firearms Instructor, or Strategic Escort Group Officer).
We uphold high standards, values and a professional Code of Ethics. You are responsible for demonstrating these standards at all times. For more information about the CNC AFO Role Profile or the CNC Careers Website, please review the available resources in our recruitment materials.
