This is a 2-3 day per week role, working alongside our Business Manager, Operations Manager, and GP Partners. We already have an experienced Operations Manager who leads the day-to-day running of the practice, including reception, administration, rotas, premises issues, workflows, and operational problem‑solving. There is also a Business Manager who supports the partners with finance, strategy, business planning, and organisational development.
The Practice Manager role will therefore focus on overall management oversight, governance, compliance, HR processes, quality improvement and ensuring that the practice continues to run safely, effectively, and in line with CQC and contractual requirements.
We have recently been through a CQC assessment process and have invested significant time in strengthening our governance, compliance, policies, audit systems, risk management and quality improvement processes. The successful candidate will join at a positive point in the practice’s development, with established systems already in place and a clear management structure to support them.
This is not a role where the new Practice Manager will be expected to come in and "rescue" an unorganised practice. Instead, we are looking for someone who can provide steady senior oversight, maintain momentum, embed good systems, support the team, and help us continue to develop as a safe, effective and forward‑thinking practice.
Main duties of the job
* CQC readiness and regulatory compliance
* Governance systems, policies and procedures
* Risk register oversight and action planning
* Complaints oversight and learning
* Significant events and quality improvement processes
* HR management, including formal HR processes, sickness oversight, capability, disciplinary and grievance procedures
* Staff wellbeing and management support
* Health and safety governance
* Information governance
* Safeguarding governance processes
* Oversight of audits, action plans and quality assurance systems
* Supporting QOF, enhanced services and clinical improvement work
* Working closely with the Operations Manager on escalated operational issues
* Supporting the GP Partners with practice leadership and management decisions
* Leading or contributing to practice management and governance meetings
