Senior Renal Daycase and Renal Access CNS

This is a Specialist nursing post to cover both renal daycase and renal access. This enables the individual to be responsible for aspects of the provision of high-quality Specialist Nursing care to both inpatient and outpatients within the speciality and to provide expert advice and support for renal patients.

This post holder will act as an expert resource for both nursing, medical and surgical staff by providing advice, support and education through clinical practice evidence-based development.

Managing a daycase service which reviews ambulatory patients with a wide range of renal conditions and where possible avoiding hospital admission. Patients attend for daycase procedures which happen in a variety of clinical areas, for example daycase, interventional radiology and theatres.

Managing and responsible for surgical clinics to ensure patients are prepared in a timely manner for renal replacement therapy. The post holder will work closely with theatre booking teams and be responsible for ensuring the patient is optimised for surgery. To provide expert advice, guidance and training to colleagues and patients to ensure complications are dealt with in a timely manner. This may be carried out face to face or remotely.

There will be close liaison and appropriate referral between all relevant departments, the lead clinician and other services, including those provided by medical, surgical and community teams.

The post holder will develop and sustain partnership working with individual groups, communities and agencies.

Facilitate the planning and delivery of care programmes to address patient needs and develop/improve the service.

Working Pattern: hours per week. Monday - Friday

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 6-7 rates, inclusive of a pay award implemented from April 6. If you join before this date,, remuneration will be based on the 5-6 pay bandings (Pay scales for 5/ | NHS Employers)
