The opportunity Our client is seeking a dedicated and career-oriented Associate Project Manager to join their expanding team in Bristol, working within a team on a large research and development project valued at over £100 million. This role is Bristol-based, however the project is located in Oxford, so this position will require travel to Oxford once or twice per week. This role presents an excellent opportunity to develop and advance your career whilst working on high-value and engaging multi-sector projects. Key responsibilities: Take independent ownership of project delivery across all stages, with backing from a multidisciplinary team. Oversee internal and external consultant teams whilst fostering collaborative communication throughout project execution. Drive project reporting and administrative functions with significant independence. Create and execute project procurement strategies. Undertake project programming using MS Project. Establish and maintain comprehensive project risk registers. Oversee and monitor project financial performance. Execute project change control procedures. Establish and implement robust quality management systems. Monitor contractor performance and manage contract administration (NEC3/4 and/or JCT). Monitor and provide regular reporting on contractor progress at site level. Coordinate, attend, facilitate and document meetings where required. Direct daily project operations and administrative functions under Project Director guidance - the degree of independence will vary according to project scale and complexity. The candidate We're looking for an engaging and passionate individual with a hunger to drive their business forward in the Bristol region. A natural leader with the necessary technical capability, you will be confident in your ability to lead a section of the team, develop new business and build on existing accounts. Key requirements: Entrepreneurial mindset coupled with curiosity, thoroughness and determination. Adaptability, dependability and a proactive approach. Strong collaborative working style. Degree in construction-related field (or equivalent professional credentials). Preferably chartered status, working towards, or planning to pursue chartership with RICS, APM or CIOB. Solid grasp of project delivery methodologies from RIBA stages 0-6. Extensive background in construction industry professional services is mandatory, with portfolio examples to be presented during the interview process. Specific project management experience would be highly beneficial. Capability to direct projects and teams whilst building enduring client partnerships, working independently. Competence in: establishing and managing new projects from concept through to completion - encompassing initial strategy development and team formation, through to site delivery, finalisation and handover. Outstanding communication and reporting abilities, utilising MS Office, MS Project and/or comparable scheduling platforms.
