DUTIES
• To join a team of residential support staff ensuring that safe and appropriate care practices are always maintained.
• To safeguard and protect the welfare of each child.
• To support the Manager and Assistant Manager in all aspects of the home’s operation.
• To provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment for children.
• To provide fair and consistent boundaries regarding each child’s behaviour.
• To maintain a regular system of recording in connection with each child and assist in writing reports when required.
• To attend review and planning meetings as needed.
• To promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• To participate in the general activities of the home and utilise personal skills to maximise opportunities for each child.
• To undertake delegated household duties and regular supervision sessions.
• To attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• To accept responsibility for monies required in the course of duties.
• To comply with the policies, procedures, and practices of the home.
• To respond to emergencies within the home.
• To be available to cover staff shortfalls or operational deficiencies.
• To act as a positive role model for colleagues and children.
• To handle telephone enquiries and undertake administrative duties (logbooks, daily info sheets, accident and incident reports, care plans, etc.).
• To maintain case file records.
• To develop good liaison and cooperation with external stakeholders, such as family and social workers.
• To support children in domestic aspects related to personal space and communal areas.
• To demonstrate sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness in a pressured environment.
• To physically intervene if a child's behaviour is dangerous, following procedural guidance and legislation.
• To participate in the development and implementation of care plans.
• To attend reviews, case conferences, and planning meetings.
• To act as a keyworker for children, providing regular key work sessions.
• To read and understand organisational policies and procedures, reporting concerns promptly.
• To contribute to the development of the service and maintain up-to-date training and personal development profiles.
• To participate in supervision and appraisal, and undertake other duties as assigned.
• To maintain confidentiality at all times.
• To be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the service.
• To share responsibility for the care and security of the house, contents, records, cash, keys, furniture, equipment, and residents’ possessions.
• To attend meetings as requested and provide cover for other homes if needed.
• To create a pleasant working environment and complete any other reasonable duties assigned by the line manager.
• To comply with all organisational policies, including those outlined in the employee handbook.
Salary / Benefits: £12.50 per hour plus £60 per sleep-in.
