SMT Manager - Manufacturing - Up to £45,000 - Colchester Area - 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Our client, a global electronics manufacturer, is seeking an experienced SMT Manager to lead their UK-based SMT department. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader to manage a skilled team, oversee production of complex multilayer PCBs, and drive continuous improvement in a busy, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a team of SMT technicians, ensuring efficiency and quality
Oversee day-to-day SMT operations, including programming, setup, and operation of equipment
Collaborate with development and other facilities to optimise designs and processes
Maintain KPIs, reporting, and compliance with quality standards
Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and system upgrades
Skills & Experience:
Hands-on SMT experience, including pick-and-place and peripheral equipment
Proven management experience with a focus on team development and process improvement
Strong technical knowledge of solder pastes, screen printing, thermal processes, and rework/repair
Familiarity with IPC610, 7711/21, J-Standard, RPS, x-ray, and IRR2015 preferred
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S desirable
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
