Description Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering £5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 – 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the North West and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities. Projects vary in value, covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners The MEICA Manager will support the delivery of planned work across the United Utilities (UU) region and develop key relationships within UU operational personnel, supply chain partners and wider Enterprise Partners. The role will require experience of both design and delivery of water projects in the MEICA space with the successful individual either responsible for the delivery of the frameworks MEICA requirements across design, construct and handover. Responsibilities General Management Manage MEICA procurement, installation and commissioning activities of a portfolio of Water and/or Wastewater projects Ensuring that the highest standards of safety and environmental protection are consistently maintained Ensuring projects are delivered to the applicable UU MEICA engineering standards and specifications Ensuring that the MEICA delivery is supported from feasibility to project completion Ensuring that the final product is in accordance with project documentation, right first time Contributing to the oversight of overall programme and costs Liaison with the design team to ensure all MEICA interfaces are covered on the projects Carrying out other relevant duties as required by the position Client Facing Building and maintaining relationships with equivalent grade and other managers within the Client organisation Contributing to reports and other briefings to client management on the portfolio of projects Liaison with the NWG management team within both Asset Creation (AC) and Service Delivery (SD) Technical Responsible for ensuring technical governance across the project life cycle Knowledge and experience of the engineering disciplines appropriate with the project scope Ability to read and analyse project programmes [Primavera P6] and other key schedule documentation Ensuring procurement, installation and commissioning is progressed in line with the project schedule whilst ensuring adequate oversight to protect Costain’s commercial position Input into commissioning plan and commissioning meetings Ensuring all MEICA equipment is FAT tested and arrives on site without any outstanding issues Development and delivery of client training package Ensuring quality records and final documentation are issued to the Client on time Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Reviewing supply chain performance against Costain KPIs Implementing and refreshing initiatives to improve behaviours relating to SHEQ Conversant with Electrical Safety on site and permit to work system requirements Qualifications An enthusiastic, proactive, efficient, conscientious person with a range of communication skills who is committed to working collaboratively to deliver a quality product under pressure without compromising Health & Safety and Quality. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to lead and motivate a team. Previous experience of managing multidisciplinary MEICA projects Experienced in working with existing Water and Wastewater treatment works and processes on Mechanical and Electrical plant and equipment, HV and LV Electrical switchgear and control instrumentation and systems. HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline Chartered Engineer or working towards achieving chartered status with the appropriate engineering institute Proven competence in the management of MEICA procurement, installation and commissioning either by academic or apprenticeship routes SMSTS CSCS LI-JA1
