We have an exciting opportunity for a Matron to join our Primary Care team at HMP The Mount, a category C training prison built on the site of a former RAF station on the outskirts of Bovingdon village, Hertfordshire.
In this role you will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality.

Monday to Friday - 9.00 to 17.00
Salary
This position is full time,youll receive an annual salary up to £57,403per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As aMatron,your responsibilities will vary. You will
* Provide clinical leadership and management to theregistered nurses and care teams.
* Work closely with partners to maintain a robust, high quality clinical service for patients.
* Coach, line manage and develop clinician staff; support and contribute inundertaking audits and governance and contribute to developing and reviewing clinical/non clinicalLocal Operating Protocols for the site.
* Identify learning and development opportunities based on lessons learned and themes emerging from incidents in various areas such as clinical processes, documentation, patient care.
* Responsible for contributing to our Governance processes ie risk register, incident reporting, investigations, quality assurance and governance frameworks.
* Supporting nursing teams and pathway leads to implement revised or new care pathways that are required following the summary of datix themes and patient safety incidents and provide a level of assurance through dip testing/audit to ensure these are fully embedded.

Requirements
* NMC Registered Nurse Adult
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Excellent communication skills
* Existing line management experience
* Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards

We are looking for an experienced clinical lead to provide clinical leadership and management to the registered nurses and care teams. Deputise on behalf of the Deputy/Head of Healthcare when required. Working closely with partners to maintain a robust, high quality clinical service for patients. Ensure that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role. You will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication and competence.
As the Matron you will coach, line manage and develop clinician staff; support and contribute in undertaking audits and governance and contribute to developing and reviewing clinical/non clinical Local Operating Protocols for the site. You will also chair and facilitate specific healthcare meetings with the team and different partners, provide clinical supervision (training available) and carry our investigations locally and for the wider region. As the Matron youll deliver workshops to develop the teams learning in various areas such as clinical processes, documentation, patient care and joint Healthcare & HMPPS processes and work in partnership with the Head of Healthcare to identify and mitigate clinical risk (risk register, incident reporting, quality assurance). Part of your role will require you to support the process of patient concerns, attend, contribute and progress actions from HMPPS/partnership meetings, oversee local patient engagement strategy and work in partnership with the Head of Healthcare to ensure that protocols and standards are adhered to.
As the Matron youll lead support team with safeguarding, have responsibility of the rota and managing shortage and sign off agency nurses hours online/ staff payroll when required (etips - payment).
