Overview
Microsoft Azure serves as the physical platform that underpins the Microsoft mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Azure Fiber is a vital component of Azure, dedicated to the design, buildout, and operations of the Global Optical Network. This network is the lifeline of connectivity for all of Microsoft, enabling seamless interaction with Azure and services like Teams, Xbox, Office, Bing, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT across the globe. With a focus on Hollow Core Fiber (HCF) and cable, Azure Fiber is preparing for exponential growth driven by continued Cloud success and new Artificial Intelligence (AI) demands, ensuring that every Customer can rely on our infrastructure for high-quality, secure, and reliable connectivity to all Microsoft services.
The Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. You will report to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, with a dotted line into the Manufacturing Shift Team Leader, and you will be the first port of call for resolution of all process and equipment related issues encountered during the production shift in the fibre fabrication facility. The fab produces radically novel optical fibres, and the process areas include glass preform manufacture, optical fibre drawing and associated support processes. Your primary goal will be to ensure the fab produces fibre at the agreed yield/quality/throughput rates by ensuring that processes/equipment run at the agreed yield/throughput rates.
The role will involve close interaction with the Fibre Manufacturing and Process/Equipment Engineering teams, to ensure that process/equipment issues are readily addressed, either directly, or by the liaison with Process/Equipment Engineering. As such, this role involves hands-on work in our state of the art Romsey facility five days a week.
As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
