Offer description

Job purpose We are seeking a skilled NVH CAE & Simulation Engineer with expertise in vehicle structural dynamics to support vehicle-level noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) development. The role focuses on the simulation and analysis of vehicle body and chassis structures, providing insight to optimize stiffness, reduce vibration, and improve overall vehicle dynamic performance. The successful candidate will work closely with vehicle engineering, chassis, body-in-white design, and testing teams, ensuring that NVH targets are achieved through accurate, validated simulation. Key duties and responsibilities NVH CAE & Body Structural Dynamics: This role will take a Systems engineering approach: Analysing the entire system (e.g., full vehicle) rather than isolated components, integrating Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) with the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to understand complex, coupled interaction (powertrain, road noise, wind noise, cabin comfort/acoustics). Producing a Virtual Prototype Assembly using a test-based representation of a vehicle's vibro-acoustic system to predict NVH behaviour. Drawing down from commodity subsystems (powertrain, body, chassis) which are analysed for NVH before full-vehicle integration to ensure early identification of potential issues. This role will develop, maintain, and run full-vehicle models for NVH analysis. Frequency Response Analysis / Combining Data Sources : Blending CAE-simulated data with experimental measurements used to study structural dynamics, such as tire and rim behaviour and non-linear systems like suspension. Particularly for complex components (e.g., tires or rubber mounts) that are difficult to model accurately. Modal Analysis: Perform modal, frequency response, and transient dynamic analyses to identify structural vibration and noise sources. Categorise and analyse vibration modes at a system level. Transfer Path Analysis: Break down the response of a system into the contributions of individual excitation sources, allowing engineers to trace vibration from the source (e.g., engine) to the receiver (e.g., driver's ear). Structural Modification: Support stiffness, load path, and resonance optimizations for vehicle structures. Utilising techniques like modal, panel, and grid participation to identify necessary structural changes, such as adding damping or stiffening, to reduce noise radiation. Advise upon trade-off studies and countermeasure evaluations for NVH performance improvements. Simulation & Correlation: Own, build and validate CAE models using test data from prototypes and production vehicles. Perform correlation between simulation predictions and physical measurements (modal testing, road load data, and vibration testing). Ensure CAE models accurately represent structural behavior across operating conditions. Tools & Process Development: Apply advanced CAE techniques and best practices to improve efficiency and model fidelity. Maintain documentation, process standards, and simulation templates. Contribute to continuous improvement of NVH CAE workflows. Experience and qualifications Essential experience Required Qualifications & Experience Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred). Strong proven experience in vehicle NVH CAE, with a focus on vehicle structural dynamics. Strong understanding of vehicle body stiffness, modal behavior, and vibration mechanisms. Experience in simulation-to-test correlation for NVH studies. Familiarity with Body and chassis structures, materials, and joining methods. Technical Skills Structural analysis tools (e.g., Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS). NVH/acoustic simulation software (e.g., LMS Virtual.Lab, Actran, Simcenter 3D). Scripting and data analysis (MATLAB, Python). Knowledge of full-vehicle NVH testing methods (modal testing, road load data, accelerometers). Desirable Attributes Experience with EV or premium vehicle NVH challenges. Exposure to interior acoustic simulations. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to communicate complex simulation results clearly to engineers and leadership. Hands-on, proactive approach with attention to detail. Additional requirements The post-holder will be required to travel to other Aston Martin sites, so a valid, current driving license is essential. Belong at Aston Martin At Aston Martin, we believe that the stunning beauty, craftsmanship, and artistry that define our brand come from the diverse voices and talents of our extraordinary team.
