The Role
As a Funeral Operative and Driver with William Purves, you will provide the highest standards of professionalism, care, and service to our communities. You will assist Funeral Directors to conduct funeral services, driving funeral vehicles in cortege and provide a 24 hour on call service as part of a rota system. This role is based in our Bruntsfield head office and Loanhead Garage and covers Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Job description
Be responsible for the safe carriage of our families to and from the funeral service, in a timely manner
Assist the Funeral Directors in all funeral duties required to fulfil client's instruction
Develop and maintain business relationships with external parties such as clergy, florists and crematoria staff
Ensure the funeral fleet is presented to the highest standards of appearance, including regular valet and maintenance
Assist in the identification, removal and transport of the deceased in a dignified, caring and compassionate manner
Participate in an on call rota to maintain a 24 hour service
This role includes regular manual handling both as part of a 2 person lifting team and using lifting aids
