Senior EHO (Commercial Services) (1 Post) REF: 103148
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated and suitably qualified Senior Environmental Health Officer to work within our busy Commercial Services team.
Ideally you will be an experienced and qualified food‑competent officer and the post will involve carrying out a wide range of duties primarily undertaking food and health and safety interventions, investigating reports of communicable disease and responding to complaints, service requests and enquiries. Opportunities to gain experience in port health, petroleum licensing and public health work will be available.
Senior EHO (Environmental Protection) (1 Post) REF: 103162
As part of the Team, you will effectively inspect local authority permitted industrial sites, respond to planning consultations, monitor air quality across the borough, respond to a variety of environmental protection complaints, service requests and enquiries, taking necessary enforcement action to improve environmental standards and protect public health.
For either post, you should have a relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree standard or equivalent and be a registered Environmental Health Practitioner holding an EHRB certificate of registration or equivalent. You should be able to demonstrate that you possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to undertake the requirements of the role and ideally should be able to demonstrate recent enforcement experience.
Experience across the broad spectrum of environmental health would be desirable as both posts would enable candidates to broaden their experience by responding flexibly to complaints, service requests and enquiries relating to statutory nuisance.
However, applications are also encouraged from Graduates or candidates in their final year of a degree in Environmental Health. Support to achieve fully qualified and professional status will be provided as part of a career progression scheme. Your starting salary will be dependent upon your qualifications and prior experience.
You will need to be an excellent team player and competent individual with the ability to deal with complex, routine and reactive case work. You will have the ability to provide sound, reasonable judgement particularly while working under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including negotiation and presentation are essential.
Both posts are based in Hartlepool and will involve frequent, independent travel throughout the borough.
Please make it clear in your supporting statement which role you are applying for.
The posts are subject to safer recruitment measures, including an enhanced DBS check.
