ROLE: Air Hygiene & Fire Damper Engineer
HOURS: 40 hours per week (variable shifts as required)
LOCATION: UK wide (London, Midlands, Leeds (Preferred location))

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Working as part of a specialised delivery team who aim to provide excellent levels of service.
2. Working 40 hours per week, including variable shift patterns as required.
3. Flexible approach to working (overtime/shift/weekend work) depending on client needs.
4. Maintain a positive “can‑do” attitude with problem‑solving ability.
5. Act as an ambassador for Mitie Water & Air.
6. Behaviours – professional, well‑mannered and polite at all times.
7. Follow instructions safely (method statements and risk assessments).
8. Be Health & Safety aware, including awareness of surroundings and tasks.
9. Complete servicing work and associated reporting diligently and on time.
10. Communicate clearly and keep your line manager updated.
11. Strong team player, self‑motivated and proactive to an exacting standard.
12. Honest, organised, trustworthy, and presentable to the client.
13. Willingness to undertake training and role‑related development.
14. Use of PC, PDA, tablet, hand tools, chemicals, access equipment and PPE.
15. Occasional working away from home, including overnight stays.
16. Work at height using access equipment; must be physically fit.
Main Duties:
17. Represent Mitie Air, carrying out service work as detailed by your manager/supervisor.
18. Complete servicing and technical reports in both manual and electronic formats.
19. Perform analytical surveys of ventilation systems prior to work.
20. Carry out allocated service or remedial work within agreed timeframes.
21. Adhere to client and Mitie Health & Safety policies, quality procedures, and site access requirements.
22. Follow relevant industry guidelines and bespoke customer specifications.
23. Be available for work outside normal hours (8 hours in any 24‑hour period, Mon–Fri).
24. Support weekend work when required.
25. Be flexible in supporting the team and wider department.
Ventilation Hygiene Ducting Inspections and Cleans:
26. Complete ductwork cleaning tasks within a team environment.
27. Inspection and assessment experience beneficial.
28. Kitchen extract cleaning (TR/19).
29. Supply and extract ventilation cleaning (TR/19).
30. Use of cleaning fluids, brushes, scrapers and sprays.
Fire Damper Testing:
31. Testing in accordance with BS: & RRFSO .
32. Understanding compartmentalisation strategy beneficial.
33. Manually test inline fire damper operation.
34. Work above ceilings, removing tiles and hatches to access dampers.
35. Record damper condition and location accurately for reports.
Air Quality Tasks:
36. Collection of air quality data and samples.
37. Completion of air quality reports.
38. LEV experience beneficial (not essential).
39. Understand HSE and CIBSE guidelines regarding workplace exposure limits.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
40. Able to work individually or as part of a team.
41. Ability and knowledge to use computers/PDA's.
42. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programmes.
43. Full driving licence with at least 12 months' experience.
44. No more than 6 current/pending points and no bans within the last 5 years.
