Senior Operations Technician
As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Operations Technician to join our Vitros QC Testing department in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work a double day’s shift pattern.
About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed
QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.
Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.
On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.
Your new role:
As a Senior Operations Technician at QuidelOrtho, you will provide support to our Vitros QC Testing department at the Pencoed manufacturing site. In this role you will be reporting into the Group Leader, and you will carry out the routine manufacture and quality control of the range of immunodiagnostic products.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Ensure HSE requirements within their immediate work environment is adhered to.
2. Carry out manufacturing operations in accordance with cGMP and GLP, identifying and recording anomalous observations. Empowered to halt processes following anomalous observations.
3. If assigned, act as first level supervision to operational team in ensuring adherence to plan.
4. Prepare SOP’s and associated documents for existing procedures.
5. Operate production equipment or carry out manual operations.
6. Carry out routine quality control tests, interpret results and make recommendations for appropriate action.
7. Maintain operational environments.
8. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
9. 5x GCSE levels qualification including Maths and relevant Science or HTEC or 2-5 years relevant operational experience.
10. 2-5 years’ experience in QuidelOrtho or similar industry.
11. Science background preferred.
12. Production line or laboratory work experience desirable.
13. Ability to communicate with all members of the operational team.
14. Ability to work as part of a team.
15. Ability to perform basic problem solving and employing ethical thinking when making decisions.
16. Knowledge and understanding of policies, QuidelOrtho’s products, Quality systems and HSE requirements.
