About Our School
Located in Burnley, our school has a proposed capacity of up to 48 pupils, providing a safe and supportive environment for children aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment for our students. Your responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
* Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
* Supervising school cleaning staff.
* Promoting health and safety throughout the school.
* Carrying out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
* Reporting any issues to the Head Teacher regarding the premises.
* Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
* Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
* Ensuring the security of the school premises as the main key holder.
* Conducting regular checks of CCTV, alarm systems, and fire safety appliances.
* Carrying out and recording regular health and safety checks.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
* Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience, preferably in a school environment.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* A willingness to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* A UK Driving License and access to your own transport.
* A readiness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
