About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our secondary team, providing tailored support to a student with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person’s educational journey, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support for a secondary-aged student with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour, and learning engagement.
Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to deliver a consistent and effective support plan.
Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student to promote self-esteem and resilience.
Monitor and record progress, contributing to review meetings and EHCP updates where required.
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or similar (e.g. youth work, mentoring, alternative provision).
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or similar) are desirable but not essential – training can be provided for the right candidate.
