As a welding tutor in this roll your focus will be teaching and training the future pressure vessel welders of our business. We have launched the Nuclear Skills Academy which has provided us with a large intake in apprentices for which we now need skilled individuals to teach them. When not tutoring you will be responsible for providing practical support to welding development projects and support to production. What you will be doing: You will be predominantly training the practical aspects of manual welding, developing their manual welding skills along with the behavioural skills to meet the requirements of a Rolls-Royce pressure welder. Training of manual welding skills to young people to Xray standard in all positions and in multiple processes. Supervision of trainees in a class-based environment and assistance in the trainee’s theory-based development. Support of stock and consumable control and management within the welding school. Supervision of activities including use of machinery EG, Band saw, plasma cutting. Supervision and support of the welder qualification process including inspections and compliance. New employee welder training to include coaching of existing staff. Writing of training material, weld procedures and inspection of completed welds to CSWIP standard. Acceptance of welds completed to the relevant stand of workmanship. Assisting trainees in the recording and writing of reports for their level NVQ 3 qualification. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: A strong background in practical manual welding (TIG, MMA and MIG/flux core) to Xray standard is required for the role. CSWIP /welding diploma/IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous but not essential. Previous training experience in a similar role is advantageous. Understanding of welding processes related to manufacturing and engineering activities and a strong understanding of quality control. Consumable control and the process required to produce welds to the highest standards. Problem solving and the ability to work in a team environment.
