Duty Manager (SPAR) – Penistone

Pay: £13.25 p/h (depending on age). Hours: 24 hours per week, various shifts on a rota basis (Sat‑Sun 8am‑11pm, Mon‑Fri 7am‑11pm).
Reporting to the Store Manager, the Duty Manager will support the store’s operations, leading and motivating a team, ensuring safety, legal compliance, customer service, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Store Manager to ensure a safe, legal and high performing store, whilst taking overall responsibility for the entire store during Duty Manager shifts.
* Assist the Store Manager to deliver all store operations, objectives and KPIs.
* Manage, coach and support colleagues, helping to develop a motivated and empowered team through a positive, engaging management style.
* Carry out performance management/absence management as appropriate.
* Take responsibility for occasional opening/closing of the store, colleague safety and stock/cash security/accountability during shifts.
* Carry out cash reconciliations, voids and refunds and other “management” tasks for till colleagues.
* Be a role model and lead the team to work together to provide an exceptional customer experience.
* Work with colleagues to promote the store by identifying and actioning opportunities to engage with and support the local community of Penistone.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures and processes.
Skills Required
* Previous management or supervisor experience within a food retail or similar fast‑paced operation.
* Committed to achieving and sustaining exceptional customer service standards.
* Able to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
* Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels.
* Ability to take appropriate action and make decisions.
