This is a new post. The appointee will be primarily based at the East and North Herts NHS Trust. We also run outpatient clinics at the New QE2 Hospital in Welwyn Garden City and Hertford County Hospital in Hertford. The post comprises 10 PAs. The role includes One stop urology clinics, follow up clinics, diagnostics and theatre activities as well as provision of on call 1:12. We have a weekly Uro-Radiology meeting, Oncology MDT, Departmental M&M meeting and Monthly Trust wide Audit and Governance meeting.

* Maintenance of high quality patient centred care
* Shared responsibility for the day to day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
* Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
* Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
* Active participation in continuing medical education
* Compliance with Trust Mandatory training

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Applications are invited for a Consultant Urologist. This is a new post and the appointee will be based at East and North Herts Teaching NHS Trust. This is a full time post comprising of 10 programmed activities (PAs) and an on-call commitment of 1:12 providing emergency care for adults and children above the age of 2. The role includes Urology one-stop clinics, follow up clinics, diagnostics and theatre activities as well as hot clinics and Men’s Health. On call commitments involve evening and night single site cover with 24 hour junior on site support and a week of day time acute on call.

Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register / Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* Completion of Urological training in the UK or equivalent
* College Membership (FRCS Urol)or qualification of an equivalent level
Desirable criteria
* Postgraduate academic degree
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
* Broad range of experience in Endo-Urology, Cancer Diagnostics and General Urology
* Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
* Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
* Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
Desirable criteria
* Minimum 12 months experience at post CCT or consultant level
* Additional Urology experience post CCT

* Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
