Advanced Pharmacist – Critical Care and Theatres
Job is a Band 8A, 37.5 hours per week, Permanent. Job Shares / Part Time or Flexible working will be considered. The role is 50% Critical Care and Theatres Pharmacist, 50% Clinical Pharmacy team. A new Chief Pharmacist, departmental strategy in place, pharmacy robot replacement supports development.
Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our friendly team as our new Critical Care and Theatres Pharmacist. This will constitute 50% of the role and for the remaining 50% you will join our Clinical Pharmacy team. We would fully support you to undertake relevant postgraduate training in your specialist field and also leadership training. Participation in the extended hours, weekend, bank holiday and on‑call service will be required.
Main Duties
* To deliver Clinical Pharmacy services to Critical Care and Theatres
* To lead on the development of guidelines, regimens, policies and prescribing protocols for the Acute Trust/Outreach team and Critical Care and Theatres
* To provide specialist Pharmaceutical advice and support in Critical Care and Theatres
* To work with Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Surgery/Trauma and Orthopaedics and those for General and Specialty Medicine to ensure robust medicines management governance throughout the Divisions and seamless transition
* To produce reports and present clinical and financial information to the relevant specialty meetings and overarching Divisional meetings
Qualifications
* Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy (4 years) or recognised equivalent
* Pre-registration training and experience
* Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
* Completed or undertaking a postgraduate diploma / MSc in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent experience)
Desirable Qualification
* Independent Non‑medical Prescribing Qualification (or commitment towards training for same)
Experience
* Post registration experience (at least 2 years)
* Working in a busy hospital (or equivalent documented clinical experience)
Desirable Experience
* Experience of working within specialist field
Skills and Knowledge
* Specialist and extensive knowledge of therapeutics of common disease states and frequently used therapeutic regimes
* Good all‑round practical clinical pharmacy and medicines management skills
* Skills for analysing prescribing documentation, clinical systems, and complex patient, medicines or financial information in order to provide advice on medicines and expenditure
* Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and in writing with patients and service users
* Self‑motivated, able to work on own initiative and as part of a large team
* Able to meet the demands of a busy department and specifically to work quickly and accurately under pressure
* Able to understand and solve complex clinical medicines related problems
