As a Care Home Host, you will play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming and comfortable environment for our older residents. You’ll help make mealtimes feel special whether it’s popping the kettle on for a chat over tea or setting a cosy table with care. Your role is all about bringing warmth, kindness, and a gentle touch to everyday moments.
Your responsibilities will include serving tea and coffee, setting tables for meals, and offering friendly, attentive support during dining times. You’ll help make the dining experience one of comfort, connection, and calm.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and light refreshments to residents and their visitors, always with a caring approach and a warm smile
2. Set dining tables with attention to detail, creating a clean, welcoming, and homely space for mealtimes
3. Assist residents during meals where needed, offering thoughtful and respectful support with patience and kindness
4. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in dining and shared spaces, ensuring a fresh and pleasant atmosphere
5. Encourage friendly conversation and gentle social interaction, Sometimes a quiet natter can brighten someone’s whole day
6. Work hand-in-hand with care staff to support residents’ needs during mealtimes and occasional home events
7. Notice and report any concerns about residents’ wellbeing or their environment to the appropriate care team
Experience and Skills:
8. Previous experience working with older adults is preferred, This could be in care, hospitality, support work, café roles, or simply through life experience
9. Ability to communicate with warmth, kindness, and clarity, making others feel seen and heard
10. A calm and caring nature, with an understanding of the needs and sensitivities of older people
11. Good attention to detail, Especially when setting tables or serving food and drinks
12. A friendly, reliable and approachable personality, with a natural ability to make people feel comfortable
13. Basic food hygiene awareness is desirable.
