As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll be instrumental in making sure our standards are consistently upheld and exceeded — every day, on every shift. The Role As Shift Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for coordinating and supporting our Funeral Service Operatives and Mortuary Team on shift, ensuring smooth service delivery, respectful care of the deceased, and compliance with operational and health & safety standards. You’ll serve as the go-to contact when the Care Centre Lead is not present, offering leadership, mentorship, and hands-on support to ensure nothing is missed. Key Responsibilities: Supervise day-to-day operations and task allocation during assigned shifts Lead, coach, and support Funeral Service Operatives and Mortuary team members to perform with excellence and compassion Ensure dignified, respectful care of the deceased at all times Support the Care Centre Lead with rota planning, resource allocation, and logistical execution Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety, and regulatory standards Act as the first point of contact for collections, including those outside of standard hours Oversee and support vehicle checks, coffin preparation, and dignified care for the deceased Maintain clean, organised, and professional service areas Liaise closely with Funeral Directors and Front of House colleagues to ensure timely and professional funeral delivery Participate in audits, quality checks, and team briefings to drive continuous improvement About You We’re looking for someone who: Has experience in team supervision, coaching or mentoring Holds a Full UK Driving Licence (essential) Demonstrates initiative and sound judgement when working independently or responding to unexpected challenges Is physically fit and confident with manual handling tasks Understands the importance of discretion, empathy, and attention to detail Is comfortable leading in high-pressure and emotionally sensitive environments Communicates with clarity, professionalism, and compassion Is flexible with working hours, including early starts, late finishes, and occasional out of hours duties What We Offer Full training, development and progression opportunities Uniform and necessary equipment provided 30 – 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) Company pension, life assurance, and employee assistance programme Annual bonus and other company benefits What are the next steps?
