Are you an Adult Nurse interested in becoming a midwife? Do you have at least 6 months of post-registration nursing experience?
If yes, we can support your career change through our BSc (Hons) Midwifery (shortened) programme. We collaborate with the University of Suffolk to facilitate your application, with vacancies available for the September 2025 cohort.
The course's theoretical components are delivered by the University of Suffolk in Ipswich, through virtual classrooms and on-campus sessions organized into modules over the course duration. Practical placements are provided within the Trust at various clinical locations to meet NMC practice requirements, including community midwifery, birthing units, labour suites, antenatal clinics, health visitor placements, and neonatal units. Support during placements is provided by practice supervisors and assessors. There may also be opportunities to work in other trusts to broaden your experience and leadership skills.
All successful applicants will be invited to an interview day, conducted by the University of Suffolk midwifery team alongside Trust partners. Exact dates and times will be communicated to candidates. Please allocate a full day for the interview process. Note that the NMC stipulates that shortened midwifery training is exclusive to qualified Adult Nurses; applicants from other healthcare backgrounds will not be considered.
Recruitment is ongoing across several partner trusts in East Anglia for the same course. If you apply to multiple NHS trusts via nhsjobs, you will be interviewed only once by a panel representing your chosen trusts and the University. Please specify in your application which trusts you are applying to or plan to apply to, so that appropriate panel arrangements can be made.
Please apply only to the trust where you wish to undertake your practice placements and where you can commute to.
If you have questions or need further information, please contact Emily Ruegg, Course Leader, at e.ruegg@uos.ac.uk.
