Job Description

A leading environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced and driven Associate – Landscape Planning to support the delivery and development of high-quality landscape planning services across the UK. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex and high-profile projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

About the Role

As an Associate in Landscape Planning, you will play a key role in delivering landscape and visual assessments, supporting planning strategies, and contributing to landscape-led masterplanning and development proposals.

You will be responsible for managing a range of landscape planning workstreams, including Landscape and Townscape Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA/TVIA), appraisals, and landscape inputs to planning inquiries. Working closely with senior leadership and external consultants, you will ensure the integration of environmental and design principles into planning processes and support the delivery of sustainable, context-sensitive outcomes.

This role combines project delivery, technical leadership, and client liaison, and would suit a Chartered Landscape Architect with strong consultancy experience looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and deliver landscape planning projects, ensuring quality, clarity, and timely delivery
* Prepare and contribute to LVIAs, TVIAs, landscape appraisals, and greenbelt/greybelt assessments
* Provide technical input into planning applications, appeals, and strategic design work
* Support legal teams on planning appeals, including the preparation of evidence for inquiries
* Contribute to report writing, analysis, and graphic presentation to high industry standards
* Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skills development and team collaboration
* Develop positive relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Support business development through bid writing and identifying new opportunities

Skills & Experience

* Degree or postgraduate qualification in Landscape Architecture or a closely related field
* Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI)
* Proven experience in landscape planning and visual impact assessment (LVIA/TVIA)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing
* Experience working across sectors such as residential, infrastructure, or energy
* Confident in managing projects and supporting more junior colleagues
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Commercial awareness and a proactive, solutions-driven approach
* This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled landscape planner to join a supportive and growing team with a strong pipeline of impactful, design-led projects. Career progression toward senior leadership is actively supported.
