Job Responsibilities

* Manage members of the Clinical Governance team, promoting professional behaviour and monitoring communication, grievances, attendance, and annual leave processes.
* Promote incident reporting systems across clinical services, ensuring incidents are reported, actions are taken, and outcomes are monitored.
* Inform the Head of Integrated Governance of any concerns from Datix incident reporting, complaints, and healthcare professional feedback.
* Ensure root cause analysis is undertaken for all serious clinical incidents and support staff involved in incidents.
* Assist in processing complaints, feedback, compliments, and incidents within the department.
* Support investigation leads in investigating serious incidents, providing feedback, and conducting quality checks.
* Produce high-quality documentation using appropriate software such as Datix, Word, PowerPoint, Adastra, SystmOne, Excel, Outlook.
* Review Datix incidents daily to identify potential serious incidents, ensuring proper assignment and closure.
* Analyze data from clinical incidents, complaints, patient feedback, and negligence claims to identify trends and resolve issues.
* Liaise with agencies like EMAS, NEMS, SCAS, and the Coroner, providing clinical input for investigation reports.
* Provide cover for the Head of Clinical Governance as needed.


Qualifications and Skills

* First-level registered nurse or allied health professional qualification.
* Degree or equivalent experience.
* Understanding of medical terminology and clinical presentations.
* Knowledge of legal principles related to patient care, negligence, and professional conduct.
* Experience in clinical risk management and governance.
* Understanding of NHS and CQC regulatory environment.
* Ability to work independently at strategic and operational levels.
* Skills in data analysis and report writing.
* Proven ability to prioritize workload effectively.
