Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on day-to-day activities. This role supports regulatory reform efforts and will help transition the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The role duties and responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical leadership in waste classification
2. Leading Hazardous Waste compliance initiatives and improving compliance measures
3. Enhancing leadership of priority waste streams
4. Offering technical support for priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
5. Addressing regulatory challenges, securing long-term improvements, and supporting Defra in circular economy work
6. Focusing on Hazardous Waste enforcement to support actions in the control strategy to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team, supporting the management of hazardous waste to ensure proper handling and compliance.

The role is flexible/hybrid with an EA Office base. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
