We have a well-loved presence on high streets across the country, featuring a range of innovative shops including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores. As a member of the retail team, you'll help us inspire communities to care more for more people by innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. You will also contribute to increasing income that funds our vital care and support services.
We value our people highly and strive to ensure you feel valued and included as part of our team. Most retail roles involve working every weekend, but our managers mainly work only every other weekend. We generally do not expect our teams to work past 5:15 pm, with earliest shifts starting at 8:45 am. We have time off on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
Our Sue Ryder Caerphilly charity shop offers second-hand treasures, including books, clothing, electricals, and new goods, with all proceeds supporting our palliative and bereavement services. As our Shop Supervisor, you will bring retail experience with the commercial awareness to drive sales. A positive attitude, good judgment, proven team leadership skills, and the ability to lead volunteers are essential. You should enjoy engaging with people, have a positive can-do attitude, and possess good financial and IT administrative skills.
Other responsibilities include:
1. Using your skills and experience to drive sales and achieve targets.
2. Leading a team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
3. Working with the community to generate donated stock to support sales.
4. Recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers, providing leadership and guidance.
5. Maintaining high standards of merchandising and safety.
6. Managing stock processes to ensure the shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock.
7. Acting as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder and supporting campaigns and fundraising initiatives.
8. Managing stock through the Epos system.
