Senior Occupational Health and Wellbeing Specialist Advisor

We are looking for outstanding candidates with a proven background in Occupational Health (OH) to join our Nurse lead team. Applicants should have a registered nurse qualification with an Occupational Health Nursing Diploma or Degree, and several years of post‑registration experience, with the confidence to handle complex cases. We seek self‑motivated individuals with excellent organisational skills who can prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
In this pivotal role, you will provide clear, impartial advice to both managers and employees, significantly enhancing workplace health, reducing sickness absence, and preventing work‑related injuries. As a Band 7 Occupational Health Clinician, you will play a crucial role in our dynamic organisation.
You will be an integral part of a multi‑disciplinary team, delivering proactive services while adhering to national guidelines to ensure the wellbeing of all staff. This is a part‑time position, working 24 hours per week over a 3, 4 or 5 day.

Main duties of the job
In this role, you will deliver a high‑quality clinical nursing service, including pre‑employment screening, vaccinations, phlebotomy, health surveillance, and sickness absence assessments.
You will deputise for the senior team when required, working with the People Directorate and supervising nursing staff. You will coordinate Trust‑wide vaccination and immunisation programmes, complete comprehensive assessments, and provide specialist advice to support staff wellbeing. You will analyse complex information, such as safeguarding concerns and blood results, and offer evidence‑based guidance on work‑related illness or injury.
The role includes delivering sensitive information to managers, managing a busy workload, and leading wellbeing and training initiatives. You will provide first‑line counselling support, liaise with external agencies, and maintain secure, confidential health records.
The postholder will keep up to date with best practice, contribute to policy and protocol development, and support audits for SEQOHS accreditation.
Additional duties include managing local sickness and annual leave, ordering supplies, authorising payments, and undertaking other tasks as directed by the senior team.

Job responsibilities
The postholder will be an experienced Occupational Health nurse and a Registered Adult Nurse with SCPHNOH qualifications at Diploma, Degree, or Masters level.

EXPERIENCE
* Extensive experience in Occupational Health nursing
* Experience post Specialist OH nursing qualification preferable in Health care setting NHS
QUALIFICATIONS
* Registered nurse (Adult) Specialist Community Public Health Occupational Health SCPHN(OH) - Diploma / Degree / Masters
* Management and leadership qualification

* Ability to persuade and influence employees to support an improved wellbeing
* Ability to work to tight deadlines, working on numerous projects Experience of supporting to manage an OH service. Evidence of OH policy development. Change management skills. simultaneously. Self‑prioritising this workload
* Ability to use own initiative and operate with a high degree of independent judgement with confidence
* Computer literate and ability to produce reports and audits that can be shared within the team and wider Trust
* Experience of managing a OH clinical and admin support team when required. Policy development skills and the in‑depth knowledge to support this
* Self‑motivated with good team building/leadership skills. Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues across all disciplines
* Advanced Nursing skills. Good verbal, written and communication skills. Clinical Risk Management skills and the ability to share this knowledge
* Ability to advise management on OH related issues
* Experience of supporting to manage an OH service. Evidence of OH policy development
SPECIFIC ROLE REQUIREMENTS
* Understanding of OH clinical issues and problem solving with senior team
* Able to manage services across multiple sites/ organisations
* Maintaining confidentiality. Understanding of NHS OH clinical issues and support this need
* Proficient in occupational health clinical services, such as vaccination and management referrals
* Experience of supporting to manage an OH service. Evidence of OH policy development
