Job Description
Our OEM Client based in Gaydon is searching for a Planning Engineer (Body Test Operations) to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with the potential for further extensions.
Pay Rate: Up to £33.64 per hour.
The Body Test Operations (BTO) Team is responsible for planning and managing physical prototype test properties that support the development and approval of body components for our client programmes. These properties, often referred to as 'rigs', typically consist of a painted body shell equipped only with the parts necessary for a specific test, rather than a fully assembled vehicle, and a number of supporting 'kits' of parts. For some of the new models currently in development, we're also planning, building, and managing a large number of Instrument Panels and Floor Consoles (IP&Cs) assemblies to support development and sign-off testing.
You will be leading activities related to these IP&C properties. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
1. Overall end-to-end coordination and responsibility for two models' worth of IP&C assemblies from planning through to delivery.
2. Gathering and consolidating requirements from engineering customers.
3. Planning and managing Bills of Materials (BoM) for these assemblies, aligning them to the required build level and part maturities.
4. Coordinating and managing parts ordering, rate and flow, part shortage meetings, and issue resolution, especially for content not yet released by engineering.
5. Coordination of build planning, rate and flow, and support for property build, resolving issues, and coordinating logistics of the properties into test.
Skills required:
* Robust and demonstrable Excel skills with understanding of Bills of Materials (BoMs) and CAD visualization.
* Engineering and Testing background.
* Project Management with strong cross-functional working skills.
* Automotive Engineering build and/or testing experience.
Education: Degree level is desired but not essential.
