Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board is looking for a Principal Engineer to join the Team. This is an amazing opportunity to really influence how we make a difference to the communities we serve. The Water Management Consortium provides water level management services for Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board, the Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire Water Level Management Board, Trent Valley Internal Drainage Board and Doncaster East Internal Drainage Board, managing 92 pumping stations and 2,400km of watercourse that protect assets across an area of 147,665 hectares, protecting local communities, farmland, biodiversity, businesses and infrastructure. We have a reputation for delivering high quality services and innovative approaches to water level management challenges and solutions. The Principal Engineer will have the ability to really influence a large multi-million pound Engineering Capital Programme across the Consortium. A recently completed example of the type of project we are delivering is Ingoldmells Pumping Station refurbishment with a value of over £4M, which provides land drainage and flood protection to 4,989 properties and 1,870 hectares of agricultural land. The role will also be part of our Senior Management Team, providing the ability to proactively contribute to the culture, strategic plans and goals of the Consortium. Leadership of a multi-disciplinary team is a fundamental part of the role, ensuring we deliver with efficiency and continuously develop to meet the ongoing and changing demands that Internal Drainage Board’s face. As part of the Engineering Team the position will be based at Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board, Manby, Louth. We offer an attractive Remuneration Package Salary: Grade 12 £81,156 to £90,279 (dependent on level of experience). Holidays: from 26 rising to 30 days plus bank holidays and 3 additional statutory days. Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme (defined benefit). Hours: 74 hours over a nine-day fortnight. Responsibilities include: Collaboration with the Engineer to the Board to ensure the capital programme priorities are effectively and efficiently delivered. Establishing and maintaining effective programme governance, controls, and reporting arrangements, and ensuring programme delivery in a timely way. Alignment with health and safety, statutory duties, financial plans, flood resilience and flood management objectives. Leading and managing the development of business cases and funding submissions as well as the ongoing monitoring, management and reporting of costs. Undertaking all studies, investigations modelling and design prior to the implementation of major capital schemes. Ensuring robust application of hydraulic, hydrological, geotechnical, and structural engineering principles. Demonstrating visible leadership in health and safety across all programme activities and responsibilities of the Consortium. Ensuring designs and delivery solutions support climate resilience, carbon reduction, biodiversity net gain, and environmental protection. Successful candidates will require skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas: Highly experienced leader of multidisciplinary engineering and project teams, and with experience of project management in order to effectively deliver our capital programme. Chartered Engineer (CEng.) with a recognised institution, e.g. (ICE) or demonstrated competence at that level and a Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Strong working knowledge of UK flood risk and water management standards, guidance, and regulatory frameworks. Significant experience in delivering complex water, drainage, or flood risk management infrastructure projects and sound contract management.
