Job overview

Job overview

Angel Meadow School is an independent special school for 11–16-year-olds with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Our pupils have a wide range of needs including ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, dyslexia and autism, with many also requiring SEMH support. We are committed to being a small, ambitious, and nurturing community where every pupil is supported to achieve their potential.

We are seeking a dedicated SENDCO & Teacher to join Angel Meadow School. This is a dual role: you will be the school's named SENDCO while also teaching your subject specialism. You will play a vital part in shaping SEND provision across the school while delivering high-quality lessons in your chosen subject area.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher to combine classroom teaching with a leadership responsibility in a small, specialist school with class sizes of no more than 5 pupils.

Key Responsibilities

SENDCO responsibilities

* Lead and coordinate the school's SEND provision, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
* Oversee the Assess–Plan–Do–Review (APDR) cycle for pupils with EHCPs.
* Coordinate and contribute to Annual Reviews and statutory assessments.
* Support colleagues in differentiating lessons and implementing EHCP outcomes.
* Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies.
* Maintain accurate SEND records, policies, and evidence for Ofsted and commissioning LAs.
* Lead CPD on SEND and inclusion for staff.

Teaching responsibilities

* Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in your subject (KS3–KS4) to small groups of pupils with SEND/SEMH.
* Plan, prepare, and assess pupils' work in line with school policy.
* Prepare pupils for appropriate accreditation pathways (GCSE, Functional Skills, Unit Awards).
* Foster independence, confidence, and resilience in learning.
* Monitor, track, and report on pupil progress.
* Contribute to enrichment activities, trips, and whole-school events.
* Uphold safeguarding responsibilities consistently.

What We Offer

* A leadership role in shaping SEND provision in a new and growing independent special school.
* Maximum class size of 5 pupils.
* A supportive, close-knit team with a focus on wellbeing and collaboration.
* Professional development, including full funding for the NASENCO qualification if not already held.
* A Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) allowance in recognition of SENDCO duties.
* Reduced admin and marking compared to mainstream, with an emphasis on meaningful pupil progress.
* Central Manchester location with strong community links.

Key Dates

Closing date for applications: 17th October 2025

Interviews: Between 20th and 28th October 2025
