Overview

Graduate Mental Health Support in School – Location: Preston. Full-time or part-time. Pay: £14.30 per hour (may increase depending on experience). Start: ASAP.

Are you a recent graduate looking to build experience in education, psychology, or mental health? Axcis Education is working in partnership with several mainstream primary schools in Preston and Leyland, and we’re looking for full‑time and part‑time Graduate Mental Health Support Workers. This role is all about supporting primary‑aged pupils that require 1‑to‑1 support with their learning. Some of these pupils will have special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviour. You’ll be working closely with individual students in the classroom, helping them stay engaged, encouraging their confidence, and offering calm, consistent support throughout the day. You don’t need school experience.

Responsibilities

* Support primary‑aged pupils requiring 1‑to‑1 learning support.
* Assist pupils with autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviour in classroom settings.
* Help students stay engaged, build confidence, and provide calm, consistent support.

Qualifications

* Recent graduate in education, psychology, or mental health.
* Empathetic, reliable, and genuinely interested in supporting vulnerable young people.

Benefits

* No unsociable hours – Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
* Weekly pay – £14.30 an hour (£93 a day).
* Experience that looks great on a CV, ideal for teacher training, educational psychology, or youth work.
* Free access to a wide range of training through the Axcis Academy.
* Hands‑on experience supporting students with additional needs.

Additional Information

These roles can start ASAP and may run full or part‑time during term time, with the opportunity to become permanent after an initial settling‑in period.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be prepared to provide an up‑to‑date DBS check or allow Axcis to process one on their behalf, in addition to other mandatory compliance checks in line with DfE guidelines. If the position involves working with children or vulnerable adults, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
