Job Description
Financial Reporting & Accounting Executive – Milton Keynes
NEW GROUND WON’T BREAK ITSELF. Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals.
Grant Thornton UK has recently taken investment from private equity firm Cinven. The goal is to grow the business, which leads to increased reporting requirements. The Financial Reporting & Accounting team is expanding by recruiting an Executive to join the team of accounting professionals. The team is responsible for the firm’s year-end financial reporting, external audit, the Annual Report, ESG reporting and providing complex financial information to external and internal stakeholders including our Strategic Leadership Team and the Board.
The firm’s group structure will become more complex as we take on new investments, increasing demands from external stakeholders (e.g., ESG reporting). This Executive role sits in the heart of the team, supporting current management as we grow. You will help ensure the quality of information produced and explore digital solutions to improve efficiency. You will bring new thinking to life.
A look into the role
As a Financial Reporting & Accounting Executive within our team, you will:
* Work independently, aiming for the highest standards to produce quality information for manager review. As we grow, you must be agile to take on new challenges and requests that may be new.
* Focus on ESG reporting, making this a unique and varied role with involvement in routine annual reporting and other ad hoc tasks.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across internal teams to contribute to ESG reporting.
* Be curious about digital tools and look for ways to improve reporting processes, challenging the status quo and bringing new ideas to life.
* Understand the need to adapt and prioritise requests, ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholder expectations are managed.
* Be active in your own development and contribute to the development of others through collaboration and feedback.
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a Financial Reporting & Accounting Executive, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA, AAT), ideally with post-qualification experience. If you have relevant experience but have just started a professional qualification, you could be right for the role too. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box—we’ll help you develop along the way.
* Advanced Excel and analytical skills
* Experience of using Microsoft packages
* Experience of using digital solutions to improve processes
* An interest in ESG and an understanding of carbon reporting would be desirable but not essential
Knowing we’re right for you
Embracing uniqueness, Grant Thornton’s culture thrives on the contributions of all our people. We value difference, respect our colleagues, and strive to help everyone perform at their best. Our open and accessible culture means you’ll interact with leaders who are interested in you and your contributions. We encourage bringing your whole self to work and pursuing your passions inside and outside of work.
Beyond the job
Life is more than work. We’re open to flexible working options where possible and aim to keep work and life in balance. The impact you make can go beyond your day job, including opportunities such as secondments, fundraising for local charities, or investing in entrepreneurs in the developing world. This drive to do the right thing runs through our values—purposeful, curious and candid but kind. We’re looking for people who want to contribute, spark fresh ideas, and go beyond expectations.
