Location: London – Hybrid working model (3 days on‑site)
We’re looking for a Loan Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Treasury to lead the extraction, interpretation, and refinement of loan data for liquidity and resolution use cases. You’ll bring deep knowledge of loan attributes and how they feed liquidity metrics and regulatory reporting, including Bank of England (BoE) and HKMA as well as other central bank’s expectations. You’ll drive delivery through strong stakeholder management across Treasury, Finance, Risk, Technology, and Data teams.
Key responsibilities
* Own the definition, interpretation, and governance of loan attributes used in Treasury liquidity and resolution processes (e.g., product, contractual terms, behavioural assumptions, collateral/guarantees, counterparty, maturity, repricing, optionality).
* Lead data refinery extraction activities: source‑to‑target mapping, attribute lineage, transformation rules, and data quality controls.
* Translate business requirements into clear data specifications (definitions, permissible values, calculation logic, and control checks).
* Partner with Technology/Data teams to ensure accurate implementation of rules in pipelines, data models, and downstream consumption layers.
Liquidity and resolution rules expertise
* Apply Treasury liquidity concepts to loan data usage (e.g., cashflow profiling, maturity laddering, encumbrance, eligibility, behaviouralisation where applicable).
* Ensure loan attribute treatment supports resolution‑related needs, including BoE resolution expectations (e.g., continuity of critical functions, resolvability data readiness, and timely availability of accurate positions/attributes).
* Support interpretation of regulatory expectations and ensure data outputs are audit‑ready, well evidenced, and consistently applied.
* Manage multiple stakeholders across Treasury, Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Operations, and Technology—aligning priorities, resolving conflicts, and driving decisions at pace.
* Chair working sessions to agree definitions, resolve data issues, and sign off outcomes.
* Provide clear status reporting, RAID management, and delivery plans; elevate effectively when needed.
Controls, governance, and documentation
* Maintain robust documentation: data dictionaries, business rules, mapping specs, control frameworks, and sign‑off artefacts.
* Define and monitor data quality KPIs, issue management processes, and remediation plans.
* Support internal governance forums and contribute to control testing, audit requests, and regulatory engagement preparation.
Knowledge, skills, and experience
* Strong SME knowledge of loan products and loan attributes, including how contractual features drive cashflows and risk/liquidity treatment.
* Proven experience delivering data extraction/refinery work: lineage, mapping, transformation rules, and data quality controls.
* Working knowledge of Treasury liquidity concepts and how balance sheet products feed liquidity metrics and reporting.
* Familiarity with resolution/resolvability rules, and how these apply to liquidity management.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions and seniority.
* Excellent written communication—able to produce clear specifications and governance artefacts.
* Experience with liquidity/regulatory reporting or internal liquidity metrics in a global bank.
* Understanding of data management disciplines (BCBS 239 principles, data governance, metadata management).
* Hands‑on experience with data tooling (e.g., SQL, data profiling tools, data catalogues) and working with engineers/architects.
* Experience working in agile delivery environments (Jira/Confluence) and operating model design.
* Agreed and governed loan attribute taxonomy for Treasury liquidity and resolution use cases.
* End‑to‑end source‑to‑target mappings and transformation rules implemented with strong controls.
* Improved data quality and lineage transparency, with measurable reduction in defects and reconciliation breaks.
* Stakeholder alignment and timely delivery of refinery milestones, with audit‑ready documentation.
