Band 3 - Dialysis and Outpatient Administrator
This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for a Band 3 Dialysis & Outpatient Administrator supporting North Central London (NCL) renal satellite units. The role is essential to the smooth running of dialysis services across multiple sites, with a focus on administrative coordination and patient-facing logistics.
The role requires onsite presence between 07:30 and 20:00.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of key tasks, including booking patient transport and coordinating haemodialysis clinic appointments for patients recently discharged from inpatient care, managing e-courier bookings for emergency blood samples, monitoring and recording transport-related incidents, supporting outpatient clinic reconciliation, cross-covering other dialysis sites and escalating maintenance or logistical issues to the management team when appropriate.
This post demands a high level of organisation, flexibility and attention to detail, particularly given the extended operating hours of the units (07:00 to 01:00).
The administrator will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive timely care and that operational processes run efficiently across all locations.
Base site: St Pancras Kidney and Diabetes Centre
Cross cover: Tottenham Hale, Edgware and Barnet dialysis units
Main duties of the job
The Dialysis & Outpatient Administrator is responsible for providing a front-line reception service to the unit/centre and for delivering a high standard of customer care to a wide range of client groups, including the unit/centre's multi‑disciplinary team, patients, relatives and their carers.
The individual will be placed within one of our four off-site dialysis units. The satellite locations are: Tottenham Hale Kidney & Diabetes Centre, St Pancras Kidney Care Centre, Edgware Kidney Care Centre and Barnet Renal Dialysis Unit.
Working hours: Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 01:00 (except public holidays). Onsite post only. 37.5hrs full time. Onsite post only.
Person Specification
Education & professional Qualifications
* Good general education, including GCSE English grade "C" or above, or equivalent NVQ level 2 in Customer Care
Experience
* Relevant experience in a role which combines administration and working with the public, preferably in the NHS or similar
Skills and aptitudes
* Excellent customer care skills, including ability to use judgement, tact & diplomacy
* Excellent telephone manner
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
* Experience of team working
* Knowledge of patient confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
* Ability to successfully manage and resolve difficult situations
