Are you an experienced bookkeeper with strong VAT knowledge and a background in supporting busy accountancy teams?
Were working with a well-established and friendly accountancy practice based in Harrow that is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. This is a key hire for a busy firm that supports a wide range of small to medium-sized businesses, and they need someone who can step into the role with confidence from day one.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid bookkeeping background in a UK accountancy practice, particularly with extensive experience in VAT. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and submitting VAT returns and managing client bookkeeping with accuracy and efficiency.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

This established and supportive accountancy practice has built long-standing relationships with a loyal base of small and medium-sized businesses. Known for its approachable and hands-on service, the firm offers a practical, client-focused approach to accounting, tax, and business support. Youll be joining a collaborative and down-to-earth team that values attention to detail, reliability, and excellent service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparation and submission of VAT returns
Day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
Managing client queries related to VAT and bookkeeping matters
Ensuring records are maintained accurately and to deadlines
Using cloud-based accounting software such as QuickBooks and Xero

ABOUT YOU

Minimum of 4 years experience working in a bookkeeping role within a UK accountancy practice (essential)
Strong understanding of VAT and confidence in handling submissions independently
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
A professional, client-focused attitude and good communication skills
Experience with QuickBooks and Xero (preferred)
Ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision
