Front of House Manager (12-Month Contract)

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Front of House Manager / Duty Manager to join The Bedford Swan Hotel on a 12-month contract. This is a hands-on leadership role in a busy, high-volume hotel environment, responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, exceptional guest service, and effective coordination across all front-of-house departments.
Set on the River Great Ouse, The Bedford Swan Hotel is a well-established landmark offering hotel stays, weddings, events, and conferences.
The Role
Lead daily hotel operations as Duty Manager across rotating shifts
Oversee front of house, Reception, Nights, NEST, housekeeping, and maintenance teams
Manage guest enquiries, complaints, and reviews in a professional manner
Support delivery of functions, weddings, and events
Ensure staffing levels are aligned with business demand and labour budgets
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, service, and presentation
Complete cashing up, billing checks, and cash handling procedures
Support operational coordination across departments to ensure smooth service delivery
Drive upselling opportunities and support revenue growth
About You
Proven experience in a hotel Front of House / Duty Manager / Operations Manager role
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent customer service and guest handling ability
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
Good understanding of hotel operations (reception, housekeeping, events)
Commercial awareness with a focus on service delivery and revenue
Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends and evenings
