School Receptionist - Full-Time | Preston (PR3)

A specialist independent day school in the Preston (PR3) area is seeking aReceptionistto be the welcoming face and vital first point of contact for its staff, students, families, and visitors.
This school supports children and young people aged 8-19 with autism spectrum conditions, social, emotional, and mental health needs, and associated learning difficulties. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the school office, ensuring a safe, efficient, and friendly environment for all.
Key Responsibilites:
* Greet and assist visitors, students, parents, and professionals in a calm and professional manner
* Manage incoming phone calls and emails, directing enquiries appropriately and efficiently
* Handle pupil attendance records, sign-in/out procedures, and visitor logs in accordance with safeguarding protocols
* Support administrative functions such as filing, data entry, updating student records, and producing documents
* Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
* Ensure the reception area is always tidy, welcoming, and well-organised
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure
* A proactive, flexible approach and attention to detail
* Friendly, approachable, and professional manner at all times
* Awareness of safeguarding practices (training will be provided if needed)
Desirable:
* Experience working in a school, care, SEN, or healthcare setting
* Knowledge of SIMS or other school information systems
* First aid or safeguarding training (not essential-training can be provided)
