The post holder will work as part of the Children’s Physiotherapy team within NELFT, supporting the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy services to children and young people with complex physical and developmental needs across community and special school settings.
The role requires close multidisciplinary working and effective communication with families, education staff, and other health professionals.
Main duties of the job
* To assist Physiotherapists in the delivery of treatment programmes for children and young people in special schools and community settings
* To maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records in line with Trust and HCPC standards
* To assist with the ordering and maintenance of physiotherapy equipment
* To manage own delegated workload, working within clearly defined guidelines
* To support postural management programmes, including the use of specialist equipment (e.g. standing frames, walkers)
* To assist in hydrotherapy sessions, mechanical horse, gym groups and trampolining sessions where appropriate
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder will work as part of the Children’s Physiotherapy team, delivering delegated physiotherapy interventions to children and young people with a range of complex physical, neurological, and developmental needs. The role involves working across community and school environments, supporting service users to maximise their functional ability and independence. They will also assist with the ordering of equipment, creating therapy programmes with guidance from a physiotherapist and completing therapy programmes when competent.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement Fringe
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time)
