About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Programme Support Assistant to join our Quality and Improvement Team within the Children and Young People Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting strategic programmes and projects that drive improvement and innovation across our services.
You will work across departments, directorates, and partner organisations to provide high-quality project, administrative and logistical support – ensuring our programmes run smoothly and deliver real impact for children, young people and families.
You’ll need to be confident working with multiple priorities, supporting programme governance, collating and analysing information, and helping teams stay on track to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
As a Programme Support Assistant, you will:
* Provide comprehensive administrative and programme support, including maintaining documentation, records, and databases.
* Coordinate meetings and governance processes, including scheduling, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on actions.
* Act as a key communication link between project teams, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring effective information flow.
* Monitor and analyse project data, preparing regular reports and updates on progress, risks, and issues.
* Support with budget monitoring, procurement administration, and accurate financial tracking.
* Arrange logistical support for programme activities, including events, travel, and resource coordination.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, developing and streamlining processes and systems to support efficient delivery.
* Help ensure all work complies with council policies, including GDPR, Health and Safety, and Equality and Diversity standards.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Organised and proactive – able to manage competing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
* Detail-oriented – with strong administrative and data management skills.
* A strong communicator – confident in engaging with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
* Digitally capable – skilled in Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, and other collaborative tools.

Essential Requirements
* NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of project management principles.
* Proven experience providing administrative and programme support in a busy environment.
* Excellent IT skills and proficiency in Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
* Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams and services.
Desirable:
* Experience within a large customer or resident-oriented organisation.
* Experience supporting project management activities.
Workstyle and Conditions
This is a front-facing role, requiring a high presence (three to four days per week) within the borough. Some tasks can be completed remotely.
