Goods Inwards Department Co-ordinator
Location: St Ives, Cambridgeshire (Head Office based)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:30
Salary: £26k- to £28k depending on experience
Overview
An established and growing organisation is seeking a proactive and organised Goods Inwards Department Co-ordinator to lead and coordinate all Goods Inwards activity across warehouses, yard operations and fleet-related checks. This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing operational delivery with team development, compliance and continuous improvement.
The role will suit someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and leads by example.
Key Responsibilities
General Leadership and Operations
* Work strategically alongside the Warehouse and Logistics Manager to develop and implement systems, procedures and best practice
* Lead, motivate and develop an effective Goods Inwards operation from receipt through to stock replenishment
* Drive productivity, efficiency, accuracy and compliance across the department
* Ensure team adherence to all procedures, SSOWs and company policies
* Act as a role model, setting standards for behaviour, professionalism and team culture
* Address performance or conduct issues promptly to maintain a cohesive and high-performing team
* Support change initiatives with resilience, adaptability and clear communication
* Train and onboard new team members
* Monitor performance against objectives and provide regular updates to the Warehouse and Logistics Manager
* Delegate tasks effectively and manage team resources
* Support staff reviews and ongoing performance assessments
* Provide operational cover across the warehouse when required due to sickness or holidays
* Promote continuous improvement, feedback and development for both self and team
Person Spec
Essential
* GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or Level 4 or above
* Current Counterbalance forklift licence
* Strong administrative and computer skills
* Excellent communication skills at all levels
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Conscientious, motivated and keen to learn
* Team-focused approach with an ask-not-tell communication style
* Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable
* Supervisory or team leadership experience
* Level 3 apprenticeship in leadership, warehouse and logistics, or working towards
* Full clean driving licence and access to own transport due to location
